Jerkline

Trail Creek

September 4th, I had the opportunity to load up with my Great Uncle Lynn Hoggan, Dad & lil J2 and head over the hill to the WAGON DAYS parade in SunValley, ID. I admittedly wasn't that excited about going to a ....parade. Well, thank the good lord above we sometimes do things we don't really want to do. What a cool event! The horses & hitches were AMAZING! Quite the sight to see all in one place! Here is a glimpse into the beautiful sights we saw! ;) Enjoy!

A thoughtful mind, when it sees a Nation's flag, sees not the flag only, but the Nation itself; and whatever may be its symbols, its insignia, he reads chiefly in the flag the Government, the principles, the truths, the history which belongs to the Nation that sets it forth. ~
Henry Ward Beecher

20 MULE JERKLINE.....THIS WAS AMAZING!

"he moved with a majesty only achieved by royalty and master craftsmen. He was a jerkline skinner, the prince of the ranch, capable of driving ten, sixteen, even twenty mules with a single line to the leaders. He was capable of killing a fly on the wheeler's butt with a bull whip without touching the mule. There was gravity in his manner and a quiet so profound that all talk stopped when he spoke. . . His hatchet face was ageless. He might have been thirty-fice or fifty. HIs ear heard more than was said to him, and his slow speech had overtones not of thought, but of understanding beyond thought" ~ Of Mice & Men

HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!

Thank you to Uncle Lynn, Dad & J2 for letting me spend the day with you! HUGE thank you to Amy for letting the Hoggan Crew sit with them at the parade!
p.s. Tiny little baby deer that came running right by us in the parking lot! This pic was taken on my cell phone camera! He was so close! I had to do a double take! At 1st I thought it was a dog running by!
